Evolving Conservation Leaders

We are committed to working with emerging leaders to inspire and enable them to make a difference to the world around them, to support and equip tomorrow’s conservation leaders in whatever way we can. This is why we have established Evolving Conservation Leaders (ECL), a programme which builds on the work already undertaken as part of Becoming A Conservation Leader through individual support, opportunities to add to your skills and experience and build your network; all of which we hope will empower and enable you to fulfil your potential as a leader in conservation. It’s a great opportunity to be part of a network of friendly, like-minded group of conservationists’ role-modelling authentic, effective, and brave leadership.

Participation in Evolving Conservation Leaders for those of you who are conservation professionals costs £120.00 annually. This can be paid in monthly installments of £10.00. A 50% discount is available to students.

Becoming A Conservation Leader is a prerequisite to membership and, like Becoming A Conservation Leader, members must fall within the 18-35 age bracket upon joining.

Membership includes:

  • Two in-person meet-ups per year
  • Four online networking opportunities
  • One-to-one mentoring
  • Support with job applications & interviews
  • Peer-support
  • Leadership Skills workshops
  • A copy of Lead! Finding your voice in a chaotic world – by Barry Dore
  • A six month leadership development programme based on Barry’s Lead! material, which builds on the traits covered in Becoming A Conservation Leader (limited places available per programme).

We want to be clear that it is very important to us that affordability is not a barrier to accessing our training and that our help and understanding will always be available to those who genuinely cannot cover the membership cost – if this is the case for you please let us know.

The training and support you receive as an ECL member is professional development, and we encourage you to ask your employer to cover the cost of this membership and share with them how ECL benefits you in your professional role. Please let us know if you need advice on how to raise this with your employer.

If you have support from your employer to cover the cost of your membership and feel you can afford to, please consider “paying it forward” by signing up as a Friend of OLF and making a monthly donation on an individual basis (there’s no minimum donation amount). If you are able to sign up to gift aid, your donation will be topped up by 25% at no extra cost to you.

If you have any questions or would like to talk this through with one of the team please don’t hesitate to ask.
